My main interest lies within that of the forgotten. Places or objects that were once used but have now been left behind. I feel that many memories can be associated with different imagery, and that a space or a place can represent moments lost in time, which through decay or violent destruction, can cause the surroundings to take on new diverse meanings.
Derelict buildings in most cases are thought to be an eye sore to their surroundings or natural habitat; however I believe that, when explored these places can evoke past memories and show traces of different lives lived by inhabitants unknown.
Time, is an important theme connected to my practice. I feel that there is a sense of time associated with all my images. Due to the years of abandonment, time has left its mark on the different surfaces of the building inside and out, changing their appearance. Also connected to this idea is that over a period of time things change, it is impossible to stop it; Therefore, I believe it is significant to go back and revisit the spaces, in order to record or observe the change, and also discover what I may have missed on previous visits.
In a way what I seek to do is draw focus on the ordinary and overlooked.
